Moving In

The money shot.

The “great room” in Bear’s Den, now available on Airbnb !!!

BEAR'S DEN IS DONE!!!! When I say done, I mean there are a million little things I still want to tweak, perfect, manage, but people can live in it so it is basically done and for me, "done is better than perfect".

I snapped these photos with my iPhone and I have to say, for what I need right now, they're doing the job. But of course I want to get in there with a crew, a big girl camera, lots of greenery and style the hell out of it. So basically I'm asking Santa for a budget.

I really wanted to embrace the mountain vibe but tread lightly with the plaid and antlers. So I leaned in heavy on wood furnishings, rustic accessories, and graphic rugs and baskets.

These stools from Wayfair had a real hero moment when they turned out this good. They had to swivel, be easy to clean, and reasonably priced. These did all three and I love the punch of black they add to the room. A bit of a bitch to build but totally worth it. May I recommend a nice Pinot during assembly.

The entryway has only a few pieces in it, but all of them are special. The table was made to order by my dad, the snow shoes and bird hooks are from favorite antique shops, and the rug was in my home but had to be transferred after we got a puppy.

The white on the walls is Simply White by Benjamin Moore and I love the way it came out. As it went up I was a little worried it would be too bright but the natural wood beams help balance the brightness I think. You can see below what a dungeon it was before, the walls were soaked in good times-beer and dart holes, so I really needed to clean it up.

It was a mess but it's a corner unit-the extra windows let in so much light I thought a coat of white paint and new flooring would be half the battle. Then we realized we had to replace the windows. Very sad, painful emoji face here. That's going to need it's own post, and a little more wine. Stay tuned!
