My two best friends from college and I have bonded over many things during our 30-year friendship, much of which cannot be discussed in public. But one that I can discuss is our obsession with style. Style of clothes, homes, hotels, meals, shops, vacations-if it has any element of style we will squeal, text, copy, share and repeat. On many of our trips their suitcases twin, but Jamie and Carrie's home styles are very different. I love both, so when I designed the two guest bedrooms in Bear’s Den these two crazies were my inspiration. During construction I referred to these rooms as “Bedroom 1” or “Bedroom closest to the bathroom”, but from here on they are The Jamie Bedroom and The Carrie Bedroom, just like Lincoln.

The Jamie BEdroom

Jamie's room first and foremost was inspired by her love of pattern and my need to finally have a patterned upholstered bed in my life. I have always wanted one but I guess I needed a little nudge from Jamers to try something new, not the first time this has happpened. Since the bed is such a statement piece I kept the rest of the color pallette neutral with brown woods and cream lamps and rug. The art work might change but this peachy abstract jumped out at me as a nice accent to the indigo.

During quarantine Carrie's escape fantasy was the English countryside and all the cozy imagery that comes with it. So when I brainstormed her room I saw her snuggled in a warm quilt surrounded by deep blacks, dark woods, and verdant landscapes writing short stories with a cup of hot tea at her bedside.
